GROVETOWN, Ga. - Mr. Hugh Lamar Barefield, beloved husband of Carolyn Chavous Barefield, entered into rest Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Medical College of Georgia. Mr. Barefield was retired from Professional Transportation Inc. He also was an automotive repair technician with the Richmond County Fire Department. Graveside services will be held Monday, February 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Bishop James Dutton officiating. Survivors include his wife Carolyn; sons, Kenneth L. Barefield, Walter A. Barefield, Tracy E. (Ethel) Barefield; daughters Cheryl A. (Harry E.) Carver and Angela Y. Barefield; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers James Barefield and Robert Barefield; sisters Era Mae Flake, Julia Lawson and Juanita Oglesby and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Ga. 30906 to help defray expenses of the funeral. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 3, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel.
