HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mrs. Mildred Harvey Hughes entered into rest on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at University Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Thankful Baptist Church, Blythe, Ga. with Rev. Martris Mims officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mrs. Hughes, a native of Richmond County, was retired as a Health Service Technician from Gracewood State School and Hospital. She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess and as former Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Church Secretary, and Advisor for Glasker Walter Booker Choir. Survivors are two daughters, Beverly Dugger, Hephzibah, Michelle Hughes, Augusta; four sons, Arthur (Lynn) Griffin, Blythe, Ga., Petty Officer 1st Class (SW/AW) Jesse (Mary) Hughes, U.S. Navy, Jacksonville, Fla., SSG Christopher Hughes, U.S. Air Force, Sumter, S.C., Carlton Hughes, Hephzibah; sister, Inell (Joseph) Harris, Augusta; brothers, Earl (Johnnie Mae) Harvey, Forest Harvey, Augusta; stepdaughters, Janet Hammond, Augusta, Peggy (Douglas) Ray, Va.; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; aunts, Lorene Smith, Lillie Morris, Orlando, Fla., Lillie Mae Harvey Evans, Pittsburg, Pa.; brother- in-law, Albert (Bernice) Hughes, Hephzibah; sisters-in-law, Maybelle Williams, Marguerite Roberson, Hephzibah; godchildren, Diane Lodge, Kevin Palmer, Hephzibah, Melanie Wideman, Atlanta, Derrick Grant, Marcia Grant, Sandra Banks, Blythe; nieces and nephews.
