HARLEM, Ga. - Mrs. Verdell Thomas Harps "Big Mama," 85, of Harlem, Ga., entered into rest on January 27, 2008 at University Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 02, 2008 at the Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Harlem, Ga. with the Rev. Henderson Roberson, Jr. officiating. The body will lie in state beginning at 12:00 noon. The interment will be in the churchyard cemetery. The repast will be held at the church fellowship hall. The funeral procession will leave the residence at 1:35 p.m. Survivors are a daughter, Geraldine H. Davis, Harlem, Ga.; two sons, Richard L. (Juanita) Harps and Edgar (May Lizzie) Harps, all of Harlem, Ga.; three sisters, Willie Mae Brown, Mary George Jones and Catherine (James) Frails, all of Harlem, Ga.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the residence or at Thomson Funeral System, 536 M.L.K., Jr. Street N.E., Thomson.
