CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Mass of Christian Burial for Reverend Edward F. Mullen, 82, of St. Joseph's Residence, Charleston, SC will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the St. Edward Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal in Pineview Memorial Park. Rev. Mullen was born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Matthew and Margaret Boyle Mullen, a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, St. Jerome College in Ontario and Manhattan College in New York. He attended Seminary at St. Joseph's Seminary and College in New York and St. Bernard Seminary in Alabama. Edward Francis Mullen was ordained into the priesthood on May 17, 1958 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist by John J. Russell and retired in 1993 after thirty-five years of faithful service to the Diocese and the people. Rev. Mullen had assignments at twelve parishes in South Carolina during those thirty-five years and among the most recent were St. Edward in North Augusta, St. Mary in Summerton and Our Lady of Good Counsel at Folly Beach. He is survived by his niece, Patricia Crocker of New Jersey. The Vigil Service for Reverend Mullen will be conducted Sunday evening at 6 o'clock at St. Edward Catholic Church.
