Water solution lies in desalination
Letter to the Editor
Sunday, January 27, 2008

Water legislation that does not include mandates and incentives for desalination plants is woefully inadequate, and is setting us up for shortages and interstate fighting.

Coastal states -- Georgia, Alabama, Florida and South Carolina, in particular -- should develop desalination plants. It would create much-needed jobs and help conserve water.

I spent time in Grand Cayman, and all their water is based on desalination. It was fine, and tasted better than some water I have tasted here in the states.
