Carolina rants and raves

I TRIED TO ORDER high-speed DSL in my community of Beech Island today and found out that it is not available in our area. Why is it that Comcast seems to be the only provider of cable and high-speed Internet service in our area? It is not like we live in the country. When will we have some choices of services in Beech Island?

HEADLINE: "VOTERS in Aiken help senator (John McCain) take victory." It's hard to believe that the intelligent people of Aiken, a highly educated town, can vote for somebody like Mr. McCain who wants to open our borders and let anybody just traipse right in. Goodness!

A FEMALE GUARD at a prison in Ridgeville, S.C., was "cornered by an inmate and ... saved by three other prisoners ..." What on Earth is a female guard doing working with male prisoners? Political correctness is certainly killing us!

USC AIKEN is offering courses in things such as wilderness therapy. What on Earth can that be? Anything to do with truly educating a student? And Wine Tasting 101. Do you make an A if you stay sober? And they let these "courses" give students credit toward graduation. Goodness! About the wine. Apparently, it "relaxes people." (That's from a Mr. Fite.)

IN MYRTLE BEACH, a man was "killed by a single gunshot ... to the head. ..."And the state cops are looking into the "manner of death ..." I'd say the manner of death was a shot in the head. What on Earth does "manner" mean here?

THIS IS A RANT to the voters of South Carolina. Have you stopped to think why liberal media and the liberal talking heads are trying their best to have (Mike) Huckabee or (Sen. John) McCain as the Republican nominee? They know if they can neutralize the conservative base by having a liberal Republican candidate, it will be a landslide for the democratic candidate in November. You would think that this would be obvious, but then again, it requires a little thought.

IT APPEARS THAT the Bible thumpers and Republicans in South Carolina would not know a real conservative if one bit them. South Carolina has really gone downhill and the USA with it.
