MEET: Second Thursday of each month at Birds and Butterflies, 117 Laurens St., Aiken. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m.

MEMBERSHIP: Anyone may join. Dues are $15 for singles and $25 for couples. The group, which has 46 members, schedules field trips and speakers throughout the year. Members also complete civic projects, such as Adopt-A-Highway.

MISSION: To promote the appreciation, enjoyment and enhancement of wild things around Aiken and South Carolina. "We are basically a nature group that's interested in birds and plants," said Roger Brock, co-chairman. "We feel like we should give back during our various projects."
