MITCHELL, Ga. - Mr. William Allen Howell, age 82, of Macon Hwy, died Sunday, January 20, 2008 at University Hospital Augusta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Jewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Howell, a native and life long resident of Warren County, was a retired barber and owner of Howell's Barber Shop. He was a member of Jewell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and teacher of the Adult Men's Sunday School class. He was a writer and poet and regularly contributed to the Warrenton Clipper. Survivors include one sister, Evelyn H. Shelton, Mitchell, Ga.; two nephews, Allen M. Howell, Mo. and Billy Shelton, Wrens, Ga.; four nieces, Mary May, Warthen, Ga., Henrietta Guy, Thomson, Ga., Cathy Kitchens, Mitchell, Ga. and Gracie Costello, Mitchell, Ga. Friends may call at the residence of Paul and Gracie Costello, 8115 Macon Hwy, Mitchell, Ga. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Lowe Funeral Home.
