MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mr. Leonard Patrick "Len" Charney, 58, entered into rest on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 22, 2008 in the Platt's Funeral Home, Belair Road Chapel, with The Reverend David Koetter officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, in Grovetown. Mr. Charney was a native of Eastern Pennsylvania, having made his home in Augusta the last 27 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Len was retired from Wal-Mart and most recently was a New Car Salesman, with Master Pontiac. He was an avid golfer and was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. He is fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Christian Charney. Survivors include his wife, Judith "Judy" Hazlett Charney; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Jennifer Charney; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Patrick Lamb; four grandchildren, Alex, Evan, Sarah and Luke, all of Martinez; his father, Leonard A. Charney; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Carol Charney, all of West Pittston, Pa.; and his sister, Janet Zupa, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. A vigil for the deceased was prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2008 in the Platt's Belair Road Chapel.
