THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Helen Brooks, 94, widow of Mr. Julian F. Brooks Sr., died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Heartland Hospice in Macon, Ga. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22 in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Charles Broome, Tom Kerr, and Liza Marler officiating. Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery. Mrs. Brooks was a native of McDuffie County. She was a sales clerk and buyer for Clary, Goldman, Kunnes, and Abes Department stores. She was a member of the Thomson First United Methodist Church. She was active at the Senior Citizen Center, a member of the 205 American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the LAVFW 6672 Thomson, where she was the Chaplain. She was preceded in death by her husband; and her son, Sonny Brooks. She is survived by her two grandchildren, Julie Howell, Alcoa, Tenn. and Jay Brooks, Hendersonville, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Mike and his wife, Amanda Howell, Knoxville, Josh Howell, Gray, Tenn., Tailor Brooks and Jarrett Brooks, both of Hendersonville, Tenn.; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Sue Brooks, Hendersonville, Tenn.; her sister-in-law, Jewell Broome, Thomson; and many nieces and nephews.
