Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and no one was injured, Ms. Shore said.

Most of the damage occurred in a bedroom, but the entire structure had significant smoke damage, she said.

No cause for the fire had been determined Sunday evening, and authorities continued to investigate, Ms. Shore said.

An armed robbery was thwarted Saturday night at a south Augusta restaurant when an employee scared off two men, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report.

At 10:25 p.m., the men entered the Garden Cheng Chinese Restaurant, 2350 Windsor Spring Road, and one of them pointed a gun at a clerk and said, "Give me the money," the report said.

An employee told police that he came from the rear of the business and screamed for help.

The would-be robbers then ran from the business, police said.

No money was taken, and no one was injured, the report said.

Today's another day. Please be careful with those space heaters and any other heat sources trying to keep warm. Dangerous. Too many fires lately.

christian134

Good job to the employees that thwarted the robbers. Please take precautions the scum may return.

pablanco

brrrrrrrrrrrr, it's cold.

A good morning to catch up on some reading. I've got the fireplace going (wood) and everyone's still asleep.

I don't believe this, no descriptions for those who try to rob my favorite place to eat! What is with that???

TINKERBELLE0330

they dont care unless someone gets hurt. My house was robbed thursday night w/ my children & I there sleeping. I was treated like the criminal. I even have an eyewitness & this female is still roaming the streets!!!

dani

Tinkerbell, What you been up to?

karmakills123

Honey Shore.....now thats a great name for someone in the public to have...love it ..I keep a notebook of interesting names and words I pick up on for future reference (lol..that novel I'm going to write)..hers will go in the book.

getalife

Honey Shore sounds like a stage name??

FallingLeaves

TINKERBELLE0330 I believe you. I had the same problem where I used to live.

dani

I can't believe that you people live in an area where a strange woman comes in while you are sleeping and robs you. Sorry, makes no sense to me.

patriciathomas

karmakills, there was a sign advertising a church down town. The sign read m t hope. I chuckled every time I drove by it. I'm certain they meant Mt.Hope, but the way it was written sure didn't seem very inviting.

FallingLeaves

dani, I don't know what you meant by "you people" but, just in case, let me assure you, I moved my children and myself out of that "nice subdivision".

Rose

It does not matter where you live, crime still can happen there.

dani

lonesomedove 'You people' meant you and Tinker bell who had shared the same experience.

In my neighborhood, most if not all, the houses have those alarm company signs displayed in the yard, but not in my yard. I have a photo of a Smith & Wesson in my front window. Translation: You'll be dead before the police get here, so if you think you're bad, BRING IT!

pro@this

I stopped being anyone's victim years ago.

FallingLeaves

You're right Rose. Found out after a couple of thefts and a talk with the neighbors in my new neighborhood that they had had crimes too, but they weren't reporting them because they didn't want the property values to go down! Why don't they just send out invitations to the thieves, if they are not going to report crimes?

mgray

Tell me Dani, how does one know how an "area" gets selected by a criminal???? There is crime, or the potential for crime, in every "area" in which people reside. I live in an "area" that's considered to be very nice and a house was robbed last year in broad daylight. Please don't be so naive as to believe that you can avoid crime by living in a "nice area". You just might find yourself a victim and how would you feel if folks critized you for living in an "area" where you could be a victim? Sheesh...

dani

Sheesh..This was simply about an unknown female entering a person's home where they and there children are sleeping, robbing them and now are out there somewhere. A female robber, not afraid to enter an occupied home, robbing the people and leaving is bewildering to me. And this happened to 2, TWO, posters on here. It has nothing to do with area. I don't know them or where they live. I only know what is written..I asked what area so I could be on the look-out for the criminal..man an unknown female. Gottta be careful.

mgray

Dani, you're the one that mentioned in your post about not understanding how they could live in an area where they could be robbed. Didn't sound like you wanted to know so that you could be on the lookout - sorry if your post was misinterpreted.

dani

mgray..The truth is, I found their story a little far-fetched.

FedupwithAUG

was robbed a month ago here in Augusta. Go to youtube and search for augusta robbery to watch the video "Robbery" Do you know these guys?

FallingLeaves

dani, a government official that lives on the hill was robbed by his own son! You can't anticipate where crime is going to hit. Dani, when I was empathizing with tinkerbelle, the something similar that happened to me was the officer treated me like I was the criminal when I reported an incident, not a woman coming in my house and robbing it. You misunderstood me. We have had trouble with crime in the neighborhood, but it was men and women, often working as a team, but if anyone got caught it was usually the men.

FallingLeaves

Fedup In the one that says First break in. The little one looks like a girl, or pre-teen boy. I didn't know if you meant that video or the other one showing the indoors.
