HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Mr. W. Mervin Sheppard, 69, entered into rest Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Sheppard; mother, Ruby M. Fields; and a sister, Linda Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008 in the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, with Rev. Billy Lassiter officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Harry Roush, Keith Saxon, Herman Kersey, Henry Hillis, Danny Keebler, Jimmy Pardue will serve as active pallbearers. Mr. Sheppard lived in the area all his life. He worked as a meat cutter for over 40 years at several grocery stores. He was a man of many interests including fishing, cooking and gardening. He was a true "people" person, loving dearly his family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Angie (Bill) Bowers, Augusta; sons, James Sheppard, Hephzibah, Allen Miller, California; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; father, Willie Sheppard; sister, Judy Saxon, Hephzibah; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Debbie Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
