Eating family meals may protect girls from eating disorders, according to a ScienceDaily report and a study at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. The study determined teen girls who ate family dinners about five times a week were less likely to engage in taking laxatives or binge eating and purging to maintain their weight five years down the road, when those behaviors are prone to increase. The study found the same was not true for teenage boys.

INTERNATIONAL

President Bush met with Israeli and Palestinian leaders during an eight-day visit to the Middle East. Mr. Bush said in a West Bank press conference that he expected a peace treaty to be reached by the time he leaves office in 2009. He said both sides will have to make serious compromises and borders established for Israel in the 1940s will have to be redrawn.

PRESIDENTIAL RACE

New Hampshire presidential primary winners were Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democrats and Sen. John McCain for the Republicans.
