AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Elise Jeffcoat Weckel, 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Medical College of Georgia. Graveside services and interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Westover Memorial Park. Mrs. Weckel was a native of Augusta and was a member of the Methodist faith. She was a resident of the Peabody Apartments and enjoyed friendships with many people, never meeting a stranger. She always took the time to share her joy of life. She will be missed by all who knew her, for her friendship and caring. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Earl J. Weckel; her parents, Eddie "Jeff" and Rosalie Hoover Jeffcoat; and her brother, Allen E. Jeffcoat. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael A. Weckel and Gerald E. and Vivian Weckel, all of Augusta; three sisters, Joan J. McDaniel, Betty J. Jackson and Tonya J. Blackwell, all of North Augusta, S.C.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and nephews, Hal McDaniel, Jr., John J. McDaniel, Sr. and Robert L. Jackson. No public visitation has been scheduled; however, friends are invited to stop by Platt's Funeral Home, Crawford Avenue to sign the register and to attend the services on Wednesday.
