MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, January 14, 2008, Mrs. Merial C. Buford, 93, wife of the late Francis W. Buford. Mrs. Buford was a native of Louisville, Ga. and had resided in Augusta since 1954. She was a graduate of Candler School of Nursing in Savannah, Ga. Mrs. Buford retired as a Registered Nurse with the VA Medical Center. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the Georgia Nurses Association, the 10th District Nurses Association and an honorary member of the University Hospital Alumni Association. She was a member of The Hill Baptist Church and the Ruth Bible Class. Family members include her sister, Emma Frances Hervieux of Springfield, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Michael Ruffin and Rev. Fred Gunter officiating. Pallbearers will be Ryan Heath, Charles Heath, Chris Lane, Troy James, Heath James, Julian O'Quinn, Frank Nieberling and Wayne Dye. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
