AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Facility, Mr. James T. "Jim" Arnold, Sr., 86, husband of 61 years to Sarah Newsome Arnold. Mr. Arnold was a native of Wilkes Co., Ga. and had resided in Augusta for the past 40 years. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years and retired from the Charleston Naval Yard as a Civil Service Materials Manager. Mr. Arnold was a retired car salesman with Master Pontiac, attended Bethany Chapel and was a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge F&AM. Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Beverly Arnold of Augusta, David and Kathy Arnold of Augusta; grandchildren, Holly Rippy, Candace Taberner, Lisa McCollum, Ashley Arnold, Megan Arnold, Brooke Arnold; and 6 great-grandchildren. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by a son, Mickey Arnold. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Mr. Jules Godin officiating with Military Honors.
