GASTON, S.C. - Service for Roy E. Vest, 59, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Augusta, Ga., with visitation 1-2 p.m. prior to the service and also Monday 6-7:30 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony McKay, Thurman Haywood, John Helmick, Wade Howard, James Archer and Danny Jentry. Mr. Vest died Friday, January 11, 2008. Born in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of the late Roy Lee Vest and Anne Marie Morrison Vest Groves. He was formerly employed with Redmond's Upholstery in Augusta and Nordan's Trim Shop in West Columbia. He enjoyed woodcrafts. Surviving are his wife, Betty McKay; son, Roy William Vest; daughter, Lisa R. Vest; grandchildren, Alexis and Diana Vest; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley A. and John L. Helmick of Martinez, Ga.; brothers, Roger D. Vest and Gerald L. Vest, both of Dearing, Ga.; and stepbrother, Alan Groves of Baltimore, Md. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathern Vest.
