Here comes the bride

From cakes to cummerbunds and from gowns to gift registries, nearly everything for a wedding will be at Bell Auditorium next weekend.

The annual Georgia Bridal Show, set for 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, will feature exhibitors displaying items for brides and everyone else in wedding parties, said Tommy Vaughan, the producer of the show.

"This is an opportunity for people planning weddings to come meet about 60 of Augusta area's finest bridal merchants -- anything from photography to catering to florists," he said. "They can actually get samples of cakes and catering; they can smell the flowers, book their photographer, book their DJ, book their honeymoon."

The show usually draws 1,000 to 1,200 visitors, Mr. Vaughan said. A honeymoon trip for one couple will be given away.

A 45-minute bridal fashion show starts at 3:30 p.m.

"It's a pre-choreographed, professionally produced bridal and fashion show. It's local fashions, and we plug in our professional models from Atlanta who travel with us," he said. "It's entertaining, and (people) can see the latest fashions and trends coming up for 2008, 2009.

"And it's not just the wedding gown. It's fashion for grooms, mother of the bride, father of the bride, ring bearer, flower girl -- we have something for all members of the wedding party."

The show costs $10 at the door or $9 in advance at www.eliteevents.com.
