AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Margaret E. Chastain, beloved wife of Luther Chastain, entered into rest at her residence Wednesday, January 09, 2008. Mrs. Chastain worked as a substitute teacher for Richmond County, was active in the PTA and volunteered with the Salvation Army. Funeral services will be held at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Lumpkin Road Chapel, Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Major Richard Hathorn officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Nathan Salyer, Lucas Johnson, Rick Salyer, John Kendrick, Rufus Cockrell and Ricky Wilkes. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fleming Masonic Lodge # 718. Survivors include her husband Luther; daughters, Andrea (Rick) Salyer, Augusta, Suzanne (Paul) Johnson, Harlem; son, Paul (Rita) Chastain, Corona, CA; seven grandchildren; brothers, Ralph (Pat) Goebel, Greenville, SC and Paul Goebel, Gastonia, NC and sister Hilda Rakes, Charlotte, N.C. A special thanks to Dr. Sharad Ghamande and Dr. Michael Macfee for all their help in attending our mother.
