NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Dr. Tehsun Chiu, 89, husband of Hsiu-in C. Chiu, of Farrington Way, entered into rest Friday, January 4, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 in the Chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Letchford officiating. Interment will be at Pineview Memorial Park. Born in Taiwan in 1918, Dr. Chiu spent forty years as a pediatrician before immigrating to the United States in 1978. South Carolina had been his home since 1996. Additional survivors include three sons, George Chiu and Richard Chiu both of California, Joseph Chiu of New York; a daughter, Shumei Lee of North Augusta; three brothers Teh-Kong Chiu of Taiwan, Dr. Teh-Hsing Chiu of Pittsburg, Pa. and Dr. Telong Chiu of California; two sisters Pao-Lein Chen of Maryland and Gin-Lein Lee of California; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shu-yuan Tsai. Pallbearers will be Mr. William Sofge, Mr. Clyde Meadows, Mr. David Whitcomb, Mr. Tommy Bates, Dr. Alan Wu, Dr. William Li, Dr. Andrew Yu, and Dr. Chung Gong. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday January 11, 2008 at Rowland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the missionary fund of The Covenanter Class at First Presbyterian Church of Augusta, 642 Telfair St. Augusta, Ga. 30901.
