SPOKANE, Wash. - Vivian Johnson Greene passed away December 31, 2007 in her home surrounded by her loving family after a long struggle with cancer. She was born June 13, 1923 in Augusta, Ga. to Margaret Cartledge Johnson and Alvin C. Johnson of McBean, Ga., who both preceded her in death. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Westover Memorial Park with the Very Reverend Robert D. Fain of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta officiating. She leaves behind her husband, Daryl Greene; daughters, Teresa Margaret Foster, Los Angeles, California, Patricia Anne and her husband, Mark Elliott, Spokane, Washington; and a granddaughter, Margaret Anne Elliott, Seattle, Washington. Vivian served actively in the Navy's WAVE program during WWII, where in 1944 she met and married a young sailor, the beginning of some 63 years together. Most of her married life was spent in California, with an especially enjoyable five years in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and the last twelve years in Spokane, Washington.
