AIKEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mrs. Irene Battle Trowell, of 1211 Hatchaway Bridge Rd., Aiken, S.C., will be held Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Frances Gomillion, Jamaica, N.Y., Dr. Irene Trowell-Harris, Arlington, Va., Mae (Cyril) Brown, Lutz, Fla. and Sherry (Willie) Perry, Aiken, S.C.; five sons, Franklin (Mary) Trowell, Lee (Thelma) Trowell, Lafayette (Inez) Trowell, Crey (Novie) Trowell and James A. (Janice) Johnson, all of Aiken, S.C.; four sisters, Rosa L. Toole, Ethel (Henry Arthur) Lloyd, Shirley Lloyd, of Aiken, S.C. and Blanche Riley, Beech Island, S.C.; one brother, Perry J. Battle, Aiken, S.C.; 33 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild. Friends may call at the residence of Lafayette (Inez) Trowell, 1211 Hatchaway Bridge Rd., Aiken or at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home beginning 2 p.m. Wednesday. The remains will lie in state at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Aiken County Historical Museum, 433 Newberry Street SW, Aiken, S.C. 29801.
