I'm glad that wasn't playaface's cat....sheesh. There are sick folks out there.
Plutonium has arrived at SRS
Another shipment of weapons-grade plutonium arrived at Savannah River Site from California this month. The National Nuclear Security Administration announced the move Monday.
The plutonium shipments are part of an initiative to consolidate nuclear materials at five sites by 2012, with significantly reduced square footage at those sites by 2017.
Excess plutonium will be turned into fuel at the SRS Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility in the next decade. Construction on the MOX plant began in August and is 25 percent complete.
Woman discovers her cat's head near home
A woman told police that someone twisted the head off of her cat and threw it in a drainage ditch near her home.
The incident happened in the 900 block of Hephzibah McBean Road on Sunday, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report. Police did not think the cat's death was caused by another animal because there were no other injuries on it, the report said.

Man sues city for not turning over document
The city of Augusta has been sued again for allegedly ignoring requests for public documents.
William L. Docher filed a Richmond County Superior Court lawsuit against the city Monday. He alleges his Dec. 19 verbal and written requests to view a procurement department file has been ignored and denied.
A lawsuit represents only one side of a dispute. Another lawsuit alleging the procurement department violates the Open Records law was filed last year by the Association for Fair Government. The Augusta Chronicle joined that petition.
Man pleads guilty to federal drug charges
A second man facing federal illegal drugs and weapon charges pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Augusta.
U.S. Attorney Edmund A. Booth Jr. said Monday that the prosecution of Charles Marvin Sikes Jr. and co-defendant Nicholas Currie was part of the Southern District's Project Ceasefire initiative, a program devoted to reducing gun violence. It is a federal crime for a convicted felon to possess a weapon, and it is a federal crime for anyone to possess a weapon while in possession of drugs.
Mr. Sikes and Mr. Currie face five years to 40 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute five or more grams of methamphetamine. Mr. Sikes faces an additional five years for a weapon charge.
Child molester jailed for not registering
A convicted child molester who moved to Georgia without registering as a sex offender was sentenced to 33 months in prison Monday in U.S. District Court in Savannah.
Charles K. Kertell, 48, was the first person prosecuted in the Southern District of Georgia under a law enacted as a part of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act in July 2006, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Edmund A. Booth Jr.
Mr. Kertell was convicted in Florida in 1995 of attempted sexual battery for abusing a 3-year-old girl. He violated the law by never updating his sex offender registration as he traveled across the country with a carnival and after moving to Savannah as early as 2005, according the news release.

I'm glad that wasn't playaface's cat....sheesh. There are sick folks out there.
like "playaface" is someone special!!!!!!!!
Chatty everyone is special, including you, now get back on the short bus!
Great - just what my area needs.....another psycho running the streets. Will keeping a closer eye on things.
Until I moved to Augusta, I'd never heard the term 'cat head biscuit'. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell if a person or an animal twisted off a head. Wouldn't a person get clawed if she tried it?
Another psyco running around Augusta. Like the comission's are not enough! I cannot believe someone who hurt an animal and then rub it in the face of the owner. I have 3 cats and I love each and every one of them. My heart goes out to this lady. I wish someone could make this make sense to me. What goes through some peoples minds. I hate Augusta sometimes.
Maybe somebody was sick of the cat scratching their car and crapping in their flower beds! If the cat was on a leash, it would not have happened. Just because someone rips a cat's head off doesn't mean they are psycho--wait, yes it does.
I can hardly imagine what would possess someone to be so cruel to another living creature! My skin has been crawling all morning after reading about it. My heart goes out to the owner of the cat - it must've been so horrible to find a beloved pet in that condition.
Hold up, you folks show more effection for a Dam cat than you do for your fellow man. If you really want to help your fellow man let do something to promote brotherly love. If you love animals so much how many of you will take a rattle snake in your home and show it love? I bet he will break something off in you and leave you ready to travel to the next life.
I do not even like cats and this made me cringe...Sick people
I think what concerns us so much about the cat is not just it was killed, but HOW it was killed. Serial Killers usually start out that way - so in my eyes I have a little serial killer in the making walking about in my neighborhood.
i agree aintryt......
i just want to add that a lot of animal lovers (people w/pets, unlike me) think their animals are people and they are not. i don't care about you saying your dog is not going to bite when he is eyeing me like a piece of juicy steak. he has teeth, that's what they do with teeth, bite.....
sorry about the lady's cat...whoever did it will get more time for killing the cat than had they drove drunk and killed someone...
that' s really good that mr. ketrell got locked up. no telling how many other children have fell victim to him..
Butterfly...You have teeth, do you bite? Think before you speak.
I agree aintryt. I think its horrible how that cat was killed. Some animals are on leashes and some are not but what gives someone right to kill it. There are people in damn Augusta that need to be on a leash and they are still ticking. What a sick and devilish world we live in. My condolences go out to the owner.. That must be horrific for her to endure. I couldn't imagaine if something happened to my dog. And yes pets are not people. But they do have personality and after being around them, they are like part of the family. I love animals.
