Everything from pipes to puppies will need an extra layer of protection today and Friday to withstand the low temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
"Thursday night and Friday night will be below freezing," said meteorologist Mike Proud. "It's a little unusual, but it's not close to setting records."
Lows will get down to the mid-teens tonight and around the lower 20s Friday night, Mr. Proud said. Until the temperatures climb this weekend, protecting people, pipes, pets and plants is a must.
