Adopt-a-Stream needs volunteers

  • Follow Letters

Many thanks to all of the volunteers, ages 7 to 77, from all walks of life, in the Columbia County Adopt-a-Stream Program. They spent two or more hours each month this past year to evaluate stream water and habitat quality in conjunction with county and state officials, and to educate the public.

With the new challenges of 2008, our sixth year, we need newcomers. I invite anyone interested to register for an orientation and stream chemistry workshop at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Reed Creek Wetlands Park at the end of Park Lane in Martinez. They can call (706) 868-0296, or e-mail jopagr@comcast.net for details and directions.
