HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Hugh Mack "Max" Sweatman, 67, beloved husband of Barbara Sweatman, entered into rest Monday, December 31, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Ella Sweatman; and brothers, Jerry, Harold, and Orville Sweatman. Mr. Sweatman had lived in the area for 30 years, served his country in the Air Force, and retired from the Army as a 1st Sergeant. He was stationed in many areas of the world including Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion Post 178 and a lifetime member of VFW Post 649. He enjoyed his membership at Green Meadows Golf Club. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2008 in the Chapel of Erwin - Pettit, 12855 Highway 27, Summerville, Georgia. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery in Trion, Georgia. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother and sisters-in- law, Clarence and Muriel Sweatman, Mary Ann Sweatman, all of Trion, Georgia, Mary Sweatman, Hamilton, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia.
