Although she was born premature, coming into the world at just 2 pounds, 1 ounce, she has proved that her spirit is nothing close to miniscule.
Britney, 17, a Davidson Fine Arts School student, has a rÃsumà that overflows with accomplishments.
She has been a semifinalist for the Governor's Honors program in piano for two years, maintained a letter in the arts for piano, is a musician for Good Shepherd Baptist Church and the Vespers Church service at Brandon Wilde Retirement Baptist Church and is a co-minister of music for Gethsemane Baptist Church. Brittany was also a member of the Davidson Chorale. The Augusta Mini Theatre even has an entire section of its facilities named in her honor, the Brittany Alexandria Hammond Piano Studio.
"Music is a gift that God has blessed me with, and every time I play or sing, I praise and worship the Lord," she said. "My passion for music is genuine because I use it to glorify God from my heart."
Brittany has already been accepted to Hampton University in Hampton, Va., to major in pre-medicine and music. She wants to become a primary care physician.
How does she do it? Brittany shared some advice.
"Keep the faith, walk in the word of God, and he will direct your path. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, know what you want, and don't let anything stop you from receiving your blessing."
