ATHENS, Ga. --- The son of Clarke Central High School Assistant Principal Miller Jordan Jr. is being sought by police for allegedly stabbing his father and grandfather to death Sunday at the educator's home in DeKalb County.

Miller William Jordan III, 22, is wanted on two counts of murder in the killing of his father and his grandfather, Miller Jordan Sr., at his father's home on Village Walk Court in Decatur, Decatur Assistant Police Chief Keith Lee said Monday.

Miller Jordan Jr.'s wife, Gale Jordan, an assistant principal at Kennedy Elementary School in Barrow County, found the bodies of her husband and father-in-law when she returned home Sunday afternoon with her two daughters from an out-of-town holiday trip, according to Chief Lee.

Investigators found signs of a violent struggle at the assistant principal's house, Chief Lee said, and were checking with hospitals to see if Miller Jordan III was treated for any injuries.

Police also were canvassing extended-stay hotels along Interstate 285 in Lawrenceville, where the younger Mr. Jordan was known to stay, according to Chief Lee.

"We're running down all leads," the assistant police chief said late Monday. "We're coordinating with other area law enforcement agencies to make sure they have the vehicle description and other information, and we've contacted all family members in close proximity to Georgia. At this point, we are awaiting any sightings of Mr. Jordan."

Police believe Miller Jordan III drove from the crime scene in his father's green 2001 Nissan Altima, with Georgia license plate 4484 AMR.

Detectives didn't have a motive for why Miller Jordan III would kill his father and grandfather, though police were called to the Jordan residence several times in the past for disturbances involving the young man, who hadn't lived with his parents for years, Chief Lee said.

Miller Jordan III has an arrest record dating to 2003, for crimes ranging from criminal trespass to rape and child molestation, but most of the charges were dropped, according to DeKalb County Superior Court records.

He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and placed on probation after pleading guilty to a 2004 burglary, records show, and after he was arrested for another burglary in September 2006, Miller Jordan III's attorney asked a judge to order a mental evaluation and treatment.

The judge did not grant the order and he was released May 7.

Miller Jordan III's attorney, Richard Green II, did not return telephone calls Monday.

The grandfather was visiting with his son Sunday when the two were attacked, Chief Lee said.

The victims' bodies were taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation State Crime Lab for autopsies, and a medical examiner could issue a report as early as today, Chief Lee said.
