AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, December 28, 2007, Mrs. Betty E. Beman, 85, wife of Hal D. Beman, Jr. Mrs. Beman was a native of Riverside, NJ, and moved from Ventura, CA to Augusta in 1944. She proudly served her country as a member of the US Navy Waves from 1943 - 1944. Mrs. Beman was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women. In the '50's she worked for Sears Roebuck Credit Department. Mrs. Beman was a principal and teacher at Merry Neighborhood School and had taught at Lyndale School, Augusta Christian and the Richmond County School system. She was a member of First Presbyterian, Augusta and the Trinity Bible Class. Family members in addition to her husband of 63 years include her son: Hal D. Beman III (Mary Donna) of Augusta; daughters: Peggy B. Pruitt (Jerry) of Augusta; Alice B. Cawley (Chris) of Augusta; parents: the late Harold A. Eaton and Elizabeth Russell Eaton; brothers: David D. Eaton of Ventura, CA; sisters: Virginia E. Dietzel of Eugene, OR, Margaret E. Oliveira of Ventura, CA; grandchildren: Hal D. Beman IV, Davis H. Beman, Douglas S. Cawthon, Jeremy K. Cawthon, Winter C. Cawley, Christopher C. Cawley, Jr. and great-grandchildren: Lauren E. Cawthon, Aislin E. Cawthon, Jack B. Cawthon, Davis Howell Beman, Jr. and the late Melanie Caitlyn Cawthon. Graveside service will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at Summerville Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with Dr. George Robertson officiating with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be grandsons and both sons-in-law. If so desired, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian, Augusta, 642 Telfair St., Augusta, GA 30901. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at 2601 Springwood Dr., Augusta.
