Volunteers needed

Trinity Hospice, a department of Trinity Home Services, needs volunteers for a range of support services, including visiting patients in their home, inpatient facility or nursing home. Office help also is needed.

Zumba the body

There will be a Zumba fitness class from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Aiken Recreation Center, 917 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville. The class is a cardio-based workout designed to tone the entire body.

Exercise classes

Yoga and pilates classes are available from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Roy Warner Memorial Park, South Carolina Highway 39, Wagener.

Classes for ages 16 to adult are designed to accommodate all levels. Eight sessions cost $40.

Old cars needed

The National Kidney Foundation of South Carolina wants your old ride.

Donated cars are sold at auction, and the money helps the kidney foundation pay for programs.

Umpires are needed for the 2008 baseball season at Roy Warner Memorial Park, South Carolina Highway 39, Wagener.

Playing at park

Teenspace will meet from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays in January at Roy Warner Memorial Park, South Carolina Highway 39, Wagener.

Ages 10 and older meet at the park for homework, refreshments, games, manicures, socialization and fun. Supervision is provided.

Church leagues

Youth basketball will be played through March 1 at Midland Valley First Church of the Nazarene in Clearwater. There will be leagues for ages 4 through pupils in fourth grade. Games will be played Saturday mornings.

The early registration deadline is Monday, Jan. 7, and late registration will be accepted through Monday, Jan. 14.

Flowery affair

A camellia show will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Aiken Mall, 2441 Whiskey Road. The show is held by the Aiken Camellia Society.

Language festival

The Aiken County Language Arts Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway. The festival is open to middle and high school pupils in public, private or home schools in Aiken and Edgefield counties. Pupils will compete in grades 6, 7, 8, 9-10 and 11-12 division.

Events include oral interpretation of published poetry, original student poetry, dramatic monologue, storytelling and public speaking.

Pupils may participate in two events. Participation is free.
