ALL-STAR VOTING: Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics are off to a fast start, and fans are taking notice.

Garnett was the leading vote-getter for the 2008 NBA All-Star game with 1,186,690 votes when returns were released Thursday.

Cavaliers star LeBron James , the leading vote-getter last year, had the second-highest total with 1,005,733 votes.

Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was the leading Western Conference vote-getter with 941,716.

ROCKETS: Tracy McGrady will miss Houston's next two games to rest his ailing left knee. An MRI exam performed Monday revealed swollen tendons in the knee, but no structural damage.

BULLS: Assistant coach Jim Boylan was promoted to interim head coach, replacing Scott Skiles who was fired Monday.

Boylan was in his fourth season as an assistant under Skiles and has 14 years experience in the NBA but none as a head coach at the pro level.
