American Bass Anglers

American Bass Anglers is the largest tournament trail for the tournament angler and has more than 116 districts offering 1,000 tournaments throughout the U.S. Membership is open to anyone 16 and over not a professional fisherman or guide. Next: Saturday out of Lake Springs. The tournament's Classic will be held on Feb. 23. Entry fee is $33 per team, $30 for individuals. Each team member must fish at least five tournaments to qualify for the Classic entry fee of $50. Non-qualifiers must pay a $500 entry fee. The big fish must be 61/2 pounds or larger. Ed O'Neal, five bass, 17 pounds, 11 ounces. Bobby Awad, five bass, 10 pounds, 3 ounces. Ricky Newman, five bass, 8 pounds, 12 ounces. Six fishermen caught 25 bass weighing 52 pounds, 2 ounces and all were released alive.

Fort Gordon Sportsman's Club

Next tournament: Feb. 24, bass tournament.

Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start. State licenses and Fort Gordon fishing permits required.
