FROM THE AUGUSTA CHRONICLE ARCHIVES, DEC. 6, 1974: Unidentified guests and dignitaries attended the dedication ceremonies of Amoco Chemical Corp.'s 150,000-square-foot plastic products factory in Beech Island. The facility, which has been expanded over the years to 320,000 square feet, is owned by Pactiv Corp. and produces Hefty brand tableware and polystyrene packaging for the food service industry.
