ADELPHI, Md. - Mrs. Valeria Joyce Tutt Day passed at her home in Adelphi, Maryland on Monday, December 10, 2007 after an extended illness. Joyce, a native of Augusta, was a 1959 graduate of Lucy Laney High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Clark College in Atlanta and the Master of Social Work at the University of Maryland. She recently retired from the Prince George County Maryland School System after 37 years as a Social Worker. Joyce was preceded in death by an infant son, William Joseph Day; and her parents, Verdery and Eulala Tutt. She leaves to mourn her husband of 43 years, Griffin Franklin Day, II of Adelphi and her daughter, Valeria Lynn Day of Augusta. She is survived by two brothers, Verdery Lavert Tutt and his wife, Betty Jean and Byron LaVosier Tutt, Sr. of Augusta, along with five nieces, a nephew, and numerous cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. 20011.
