One of the best examples of this truth is President Bush's plan to install a missile defense system in Eastern Europe, supposedly to protect those countries from Iranian missile attacks. This illogical policy makes little sense; Iran and Poland aren't exactly natural enemies.
However, the Carlyle Group -- formerly chaired by President Bush's father, who is still a major shareholder -- has billions of dollars invested in Northrop Grumman, the corporation that makes missile defense systems. President Bush will profit personally from the sale of this missile system when he inherits his portion of his father's estate.
After you understand this fact, Bush's policy makes sense. The Carlyle Group consists of 550 businessmen, including George H.W. Bush and other former government officials, who invest heavily in defense-related stocks of all kinds, and have profited greatly from decisions made by the current president. Until 2001, the bin Laden family also was part of this group -- a coincidence conspiracy theorists couldn't have invented.
The American people should be outraged that their tax dollars are being wasted combating imaginary threats, or threats created by purposefully mismanaged foreign policy. Pointless wars started by the United States under the Bushes' rule have killed tens of thousands of innocent Third World civilians. The Bushes, father and son, should be thrown in the deepest darkest prison on Earth, because they are the real terrorists.
