Know Bushes' true motives on missiles

  • Follow Letters

The United States now is controlled by big corporations and war profiteers.

One of the best examples of this truth is President Bush's plan to install a missile defense system in Eastern Europe, supposedly to protect those countries from Iranian missile attacks. This illogical policy makes little sense; Iran and Poland aren't exactly natural enemies.

However, the Carlyle Group -- formerly chaired by President Bush's father, who is still a major shareholder -- has billions of dollars invested in Northrop Grumman, the corporation that makes missile defense systems. President Bush will profit personally from the sale of this missile system when he inherits his portion of his father's estate.

After you understand this fact, Bush's policy makes sense. The Carlyle Group consists of 550 businessmen, including George H.W. Bush and other former government officials, who invest heavily in defense-related stocks of all kinds, and have profited greatly from decisions made by the current president. Until 2001, the bin Laden family also was part of this group -- a coincidence conspiracy theorists couldn't have invented.

The American people should be outraged that their tax dollars are being wasted combating imaginary threats, or threats created by purposefully mismanaged foreign policy. Pointless wars started by the United States under the Bushes' rule have killed tens of thousands of innocent Third World civilians. The Bushes, father and son, should be thrown in the deepest darkest prison on Earth, because they are the real terrorists.

Mark Gelbart, Augusta

Fianllay, a person who makes

Fianllay, a person who makes sense. Dr. Grunby must live in a fantasy world where he just couldn't believe that there is a deliberate attempt to profit out of war and fear. Haliburton and Grumman are notorius at playing on peoples fears for profit. President Bush and his paranoid and completely uniformed administration, are easy targets for their sales pitch.

Imagine, a billionaire

Imagine, a billionaire investing in successful companies. What is this world coming to? And billionaires from other countries investing in the same corps. What is this world coming to? Big money has always ruled the countries of the world and now with better communications the influence has grown expoentially. Trilateral, Bildeburgers, Freemasons, and numerous other groups are loosely formed economic groups that influence the running of the world. Big money talks big. What's new?

If you look back at the

If you look back at the history of the current president's grandfather you will see its just continuing the family business. We are kind of living in Orwell's 1984, though luckily things have not gotten that extreme.

I wouldn't expect Gelhart to

I wouldn't expect Gelhart to mention this but Bill Clinton was pushing an agreement on building the MDS at the G-8 Summit in Okinawa during his term in office. and meeting with Putin to get his approval. Of course, Hillary has a knack for making big money fast so there is no telling how much she could have made while building the system. These people are politicians, folk. They are greedy and they all leave office rich.

Shut up shivas. You talk too much. You ad an annoying comment on every editorial and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks you have too many opinions, even when grossly misinformed.

Listen people, don't make

Listen people, don't make this a partisan issue. Crap like this has gone on for a long time now, with both parties (the mention of Clinton above is 100% true). Instead of being at each others' throats like this, we should unite and be collectively ticked-off that this kind of thing actually goes on.

Countries run on tax money

Countries run on tax money and lobby money, both come from profits earned by large corporations. Big money buys politicians and politicians cater to big money. It's like a big daisy chain. The only thing that stops us all from being slaves is people are harder to herd then geese. (except socialists, of course. they want to be herded.).
