WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Maudine Griffin Bailey, 77, peacefully entered into rest at her home with family at her side on Wednesday, December 5, 2007. She was born in Screven County on January 8, 1930 to the late Willie Earl "Brown" Griffin and Lillian Maude Davis Griffin. She had lived in Screven and Burke Counties all of her life. She was an office manager at Sardis Manufacturing Company. Later she served the Screven County Clerk of Court's Office as Deputy Clerk and Bailiff. After retirement, she remained an active cook and gardener, which were hobbies that she dearly loved. She was a long-time member of Hurst Baptist Church in Screven County. She taught Sunday School at Sardis United Methodist Church for many years and was also a Sunday School teacher at McDonald Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Kenneth Bailey; and her brother, Earl Edward Griffin. She is survived by her three daughters, Nikki Bailey of Waynesboro, Pam Cox (William) of Girard, and Lil Bailey of North Augusta, S.C.; her brother, Robert Thomas "Robbie" Griffin (Sybil) of Hilltonia, Ga.; her sister, Mary Griffin Harper of Waynesboro; her seven grandchildren, Paige Bailey, Kenneth Bailey, Shannon Cox Goodwin (Scott), Brooke Cox Sumner ( J. J.), John Duncan "J. D." Fordham, II (Joy), Bailey Fordham, and Morgan Fordham; her five great-grandchildren, Taylor Griffin Bailey, Audrey and Caroline Sumner, and Josh and Luke Goodwin; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Georgia Ann Cox. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 6, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at DeLoach- Kennedy Funeral Home in Waynesboro. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2007 at Sardis United Methodist Church with Rev. Horace Lariscy and Rev. Charlie T. Kittrell officiating. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raymond Brookins, Bobby Lambert, Marion Griffin, Tommy Griffin, William Edward Lambert, Ken Bailey, "J. D." Fordham, and Bailey Fordham. Honorary pallbearers will be J. W. Bailey, Mattie Lee Long, Ola Mae Walker, Helen Kirchner, Betty Flake, Lavaughn Forehand, Daniel Bragg, Irene Bragg, Johnnie Oglesby, Susan Oglesby, Edith Pullen, and Tracy Walker.
