AVON PARK, Fla. - Mariana Bush King, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home in Avon Park, Fla. on November 3, 2007. Mariana, who grew up in Augusta, was the daughter of William E. and Mary (Barrett) Bush. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John R. Bush and William G. Bush. She was a graduate of Sweet Briar College in Lynchburg, Va. She and her husband, Robert Rutledge King, Jr., moved to Avon Park, Fla. in 1946, where they owned and operated the Jacaranda Hotel for 8 years. Mariana was active in the community and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert R. King, Jr.; sister, Jane Bush Long, Augusta, Ga. and extended family in Augusta; four children, Mary K. Sullivan, Ann K. Milton, Robert R. King, III, and Elizabeth K. Kanan; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mass was celebrated Monday, November 5, 2007 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, Fla. In Mariana's memory, contributions may be made to the Avon Park Community Child Development Center, 800 S. Delaney St., Avon Park, Fla. 33825.
