CRAWFORDVILLE, Ga. - Calvin Grant Turner, of Crawfordville, Ga., was born on February 18, 1932 and died on November 5, 2007. He was a graduate of Fort Valley State University in 1955-majoring in agriculture with a minor in chemistry. Calvin was a minister, teacher, basket/football coach, business owner (Turner's Construction Company), and civil rights leader (working with Dr. Martin Luther King and his followers). He leaves to mourn his mother, Martha C. Turner; four children, Katrina Turner, Macon, Sandra Moultrie, Atlanta, Dr. Donna Turner, Macon, and Carolyn Turner-Pope, Macon; four grandchildren, Leon Pope, SVSU, Tori and Sydney Pope, Lawndale, Calif., and Maya Moultrie, Atlanta; a sister, Earnestine Johnson-Stewart, Atlanta; brothers, Phillip, Jerry, and Willie Turner, Chicago, and George and Robert Turner, Crawfordville, Ga.; a dear nephew, Geoffrey Turner, FVSU; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Services will be held at Springfield Baptist Church, Springfield Rd., Crawfordville, Ga., on Saturday, November 10th at 1:00 p.m. Hughes & Turner Funeral Home, 211 Park St., Crawfordville, Ga. 706-456-2106.
