HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Rev. Bertha Mae Tanzymore, of Willis Foreman Road, entered into rest on Friday, November 2, 2007 at Medical College of Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. E. T. Martin officiating. Burial will be at Arbutus Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland. Rev. Tanzymore, a native of Baltimore, Md., received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology and Management from the University of Maryland, a Masters Degree in Religious Education from Anderson Theological Seminary and College, and completed graduate studies at St. Mary's Ecumenical Institute and Princeton Theological Seminary. As an ordained minister, she was a member of the ministerial staff of Historic Springfield Baptist Church and formerly the co-pastor of Phillip Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Waynesboro, Ga. She was founder of "Breaking Point Ministries." As a bi-vocational minister, she was an Employment and Training Specialist for the Georgia Department of Labor "Good Works" transitional jobs program. After thirty years of service, she also retired as an Engineer from Bell Atlantic. Among her many community activist involvements, she served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and volunteer chaplain for Prison Fellowship. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a life member of the National Council of Negro Women, a member of the Ministers Wives and Widows, and Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Survivors are her husband, Rev. Eugene Tanzymore, Jr.; four children, Sheronda Booker, Columbia, Md., Eugene Tanzymore, III, Baltimore, Md., Jeanell Tanzymore, Hephzibah, Ga., Shane Tanzymore, York, Pa.; son-in-law, Mark Booker, Columbia, Md.; two grandchildren, Renarda and Cypress Booker; two sisters, Doretha G. Gilliam, Pearl Geter, Baltimore, Md.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Williams Funeral Home, 2945 Old Tobacco Rd., Hephzibah, Ga.
