SYLVANIA, Ga. - Ms. Catherine Newton Pfeiffer, age 78, died Sunday morning at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Screven County native was a member of Buck Creek United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, a member of Buck Creek Homemakers Club, and a retired Secretary with the Screven County Farm Bureau. She was the Women's Chairperson of Screven County Farm Bureau for 20 years and the Women's District Chairperson for Georgia Farm Bureau for 8 years. Ms. Pfeiffer was preceded in death by her husband, William Koelker Pfeiffer, Sr.; and daughter, Rebecca Pfeiffer Forehand. Ms. Pfeiffer is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Mary Catherine P. and Wayne Anderson of Sylvania, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, William Koelker, Jr. and Charlotte Pfeiffer of Port Wentworth, Ga.; a brother, Paul Keller Newton and special friend Carolyn Jolley of Sylvania, Ga.; two sisters- in-law, Ruth P. White of Shalimar, Fla. and Doris Newton of Sylvania, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Kelly Forehand of Statesboro, Ga., Eric Forehand of Sylvania, Ga., Carissa Pfeiffer, Stephanie Pfeiffer, Matthew Pfeiffer, and Alexa Pfeiffer of Port Wentworth, Ga., Chris Anderson and Alanna Anderson of Sylvania, Ga.; one great-grand, Landon Forehand of Sylvania, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ms. Pfeiffer will be Wednesday, November 7th at 11 a.m. at Buck Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Purnell and Rev. Pete Wall officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Rick Newton, Michael Newton, Allen Newton, Luke Boswell, Wayne Woodall, Ricky Scott, Jim Edenfield, Jeff Carson, Mike Daley, and Allen Daley. Members of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church Choir will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Buck Creek United Methodist Church, 2508 Buck Creek Rd., Sylvania, Ga. 30467.
