Polls open at 7 a.m. today and close at 7 p.m. at 40 of the county's 52 polling places.
About 65,000 of the 94,000 registered voters are eligible to vote to fill commission seats in Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10; two seats on the Hephzibah City Commission and two seats on the Blythe City Council.
To win a seat outright, a candidate must receive a majority, or 50 percent plus one vote. If no candidate receives a majority of the votes, a runoff will be Dec. 4.
To determine voting precinct, go to the board of elections Web site at www.augustaga.gov, and click on poll locator under the board of elections tab. The first digit of a voter's precinct number is the district number.
All voters will be required to provide one of the six forms of photo identification required under Georgia law. For more information, call (706) 821-2340.
