AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the VA Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., Mr. Richard A. "Dick" Wimmer, 64, husband of Susy Wimmer. Mr. Wimmer was a native of Elwood, Ind. and was a graduate of Frankton High School in Frankton, Ind. and attended Vincennes University in Vincennes, Ind. He married Susy, his loving wife of 42 years and then served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman completing a tour of Duty in Vietnam. After his discharge in 1968, they remained in Augusta. His 39 year career with the Real Estate profession began with Southern Finance Corp. and for the past 15 years he has been with Re-Max Augusta as Sales Manager as well as Commercial Sales. He attended Covenant Presbyterian. Mr. Wimmer was a member of the Greater Augusta Board of Realtors, having served as its President in 1992. He also served on numerous committees and as secretary, treasurer, vice president, and a member of the Board of Directors. He was a state director of the Georgia Association of Realtors and a member of its Legislative Committee. Mr. Wimmer was also a life member of the Million Dollar Club. He was a member of the Augusta-Richmond County Board of Tax Assessors from 1987 until 1995. Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughter and son-in-law, Katie Keal Blackston and Barry of Augusta; son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. "Buddy" Wimmer, II and Nicole of Evans; grandson, Henry Edmond "Hank" Wimmer; sister, Sally Kane and her husband Chuck; sisters-in-law, Jane Keal, Merry Lee Phillips and brother-in-law, Jack, Kitty Anderson and brother-in-law, Don; and 17 nieces and nephews. Mr. Wimmer was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lorene Wimmer. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert M. Watkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Bryan Simpkins, E.G. Meybolm, Tom Forrest, Mike Doyle, Ron Peacock, Tommy Fickle, Leonard Dye, Nita Sawyer, and Carl Swanson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Realtors and staff of Re-Max Augusta. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park.
