Two weeks ago I found out I'm losing my job after spending more than 30years of my life working for S. Lichtenberg's curtain factory in Waynesboro. I am certainly not the first person in Georgia to lose a job. After the North American Free Trade Agreement was passed, more than 25,000 people lost trade-related jobs in Georgia alone.
With a vote coming up in the House on Peru NAFTA, I surely hope Congressman John Barrow stands with his district and opposes this bad trade deal that's already caused thousands of jobs like mine to move overseas. Working people in the United States and Peru are against this bill - only the wealthiest few will stand to gain from this and otherbad trade bills.
