BELVEDERE, S.C. - Mr. Harmon Elwood Meeker II, age 71, entered eternal rest on October 20, 2007 at Heartland IPU, Augusta, Ga. after a lengthily illness. He was the beloved husband of Ms. Mary J. "Connie" Meeker. Mr. Meeker was the son of the former Camille Arlen Martin Meeker and Harmon E. Meeker of Springfield, Ohio, who predeceased him. Mr. Meeker was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church of Beech Island, S.C. He was also one of the former owners of S&S Distributing Company of North Augusta, S.C. Mr. Meeker was an avid golfer and a former member of The River Club, North Augusta, S.C. He will be remembered as a faithful Braves fan and a life long drummer. Mr. Meeker is survived by his loving wife of 46 years; a son, Harmon E. "Skip" Meeker III of Houston, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Mary C. "Cammie" and Carl Melancon of North Augusta, S.C.; two grandchildren, Hanna and Joshua Melancon of North Augusta, S.C.; one sister, Judy Gullett of Xenia, Ohio; and Mr. Robert Scott Gay of Waynesboro, Ga., a trusted friend and business partner. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Chapel of Rowland Funeral Home, 637 West Martintown Road, North Augusta, S.C. (803-278-2525) with Rev. Jesse Goldman officiating. The family will receive friends at Rowland's this same date from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the North Augusta River Front Marine Corps League.
