Comments from our readers:

A RAVE FOR the Ellis Street canal project. I think it is a wonderful idea. It will add some much-needed charm to the downtown area. The downtown is getting better all the time. I work in a hotel, and out-of-towners are always looking for something to do here. We just need a few more draws. Next we need a zoo or maybe an aquarium. Augusta just keeps getting better.

TO THE PERSON WHO wrote in to let us all know that her husband was being transferred out of this "hick town," I'd like to ask: To which new prison is he going?

WONDERFUL RAVE TO the ninth-grade moms at Augusta Christian School for graciously bringing meals to my sister who is battling cancer. The whole family is blessed by your loving kindness.

SOME NITWIT SNEAKED an article onto your op-ed page that insists we humans must speak to animals and listen while they talk back and tell us what they want.

A RAVE FOR Gen. Peter Pace, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon, who said homosexuals are "immoral" and "counter to God's law." It's about time somebody in Washington got down off their politically correct high horses and spoke some truth.

COLUMBIA COUNTY'S school cafeterias might be clean, but the food is pretty bad in the middle schools, at least.

A RANT/RAVE TO the lady on opening night at Disney on Ice who refused to move out of our seats, then wanted to complain during intermission that she couldn't see anything. A rave to the employee who asked her to move, then found us better seats.

WELL, BRAVES FANS, I guess you have your crying towels out now! I hope that you have learned you have been supporting losers all along and it shows you there are better teams. I hope that your luck is no better next year. Bye-bye, Braves.

THIS IS NOT A RANT, because I don't like to complain, but doesn't it seem like a lot of people are complaining about some of the craziest things? Let's give it up to the newspaper for giving all the upset and angry people something to do when they just can't take it anymore.
