Carolina rants and raves

THIS IS A RANT for North Augusta directors who hired the handicapped and expect us to baby-sit them all day. That's not really fair to the employee if you want us to be able to do our job.

MY RANT IS TO the North Augusta post office. It did not fly the American flag Sept. 22. And there were a couple of other days in September when it did not fly the flag during regular business hours. I am very disappointed that a federal institution does not honor our country by flying the American flag.

A GREAT RAVE for the North Augusta Today that comes out each week. I look forward to it. The information is wonderful. Thanks a lot.

THE NORTH AUGUSTA Planning Commission just doesn't get it. How can you have real estate agents and landscape company owners on a planning commission making decisions on what is planned for North Augusta?

Jason Whinghter left the planning commission for city council, and look what happens. He gets a permit to build condos on Georgia Avenue.

THIS IS A RANT for the people who use the North Augusta boat ramp. The signs are clearly marked for boat trailers only, but there are those who park halfway on the grass and half on the turnaround road, so you have little room to make the turn to put your boat in the water. There is plenty of parking for cars without trailers at the soccer complex.

We have a limited number of trailer parking spaces. Have some consideration.

IT'S SAD THAT Richmond County is having bullying problems in their schools. It's not like that in Aiken County. We have faculty and a school board that care about our children.

PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY Thurmond Lake is allowed to drop 10 feet and more below full pool, yet Richard B. Russell Lake sits at full pool (or above) consistently. I understand that Thurmond Lake is there to produce power and not just for our leisure, but explain this inconsistency to a layman.
