BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mr. Albert Vernon Holloway, Sr., 86, of McMillan Drive, Beech Island, SC, who entered into rest September 24, 2007, will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home. Rev. Frank R. Hyder officiating. Interment in Sunset Memory Gardens with Veteran's Honors. Mr. Holloway was a native of Whitwell, Tennessee, having made Beech Island his home for the past 56 years. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Beech Island. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Mr. Holloway was a retired heavy equipment operator with the E. I. DuPont Construction Company and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Evva Ridge Holloway; a son and daughter-in-law, Albert Vernon "Corky" and Debbie Holloway, Jr., Evans; a daughter, Nancy Holloway Berry, North Augusta; two sisters, Barbara Holloway and Faye Rizzo, both of New York; three grandchildren, Nathan Berry, Amanda Holloway, Trey Holloway; and one great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Joe Lloyd, Lester Berry, Rock Willingham, Ronnie Holland, Don DeShazo and Bill Holland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Wednesday evening from 6 to 8.
