THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Bessie Maude Cooper Bales, 78, of Cobbham Road entered into rest Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, at Mitchell Full Gospel Church, Mitchell with Rev. Eddie Renew and Rev. Jacky Downs officiating. Interment will be in the Cooper Family Cemetery. Mrs. Bales was a native of Glascock Co. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family and friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Bales is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Mr. Roger Bales of Thomson; four daughters, Rebecca (Billy) Reese of Thomson, Connie (Dewitt) Johnson of Suwanee, Ga., Brenda Brown and Frank Corley of Mitchell and Wanda Mathis and Frank Youngblood of Gibson; five sons, George (Nancy) Bales of Augusta, Rodney Bales and Gail Bales of Belize, C.A. and Grovetown respectively, Ronald (Khongok) Bales of Naknek, Alaska, Donald (Debra) Bales of Gibson and Troy (Marie) Bales of Gibson; 38 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Minnie Cooper. Pallbearers are grandson, Jason Franks, Jeff Bales, Milton Brown, Duke Whitfield, Frank Youngblood, III, Deric Bales, Kenny Bales and Kevin Bales. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
