AUGUSTA, Ga. - Gail Heath Perry, beloved wife of 36 years of Edgar Leslie Perry, Jr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 12th 2007 at Trinity Hospice with her family by her side. Gail was born the daughter of William and Burdette Heath in Monroe, N.C. on July 5, 1946 and grew up in Greenville, S.C. She graduated high school from Ashley Hall in Charleston, S.C. Upon graduation she attended Queens College in Charlotte, N.C. and then transferred to the University of South Carolina in Columbia and received a degree in History. After graduation, she worked at the South Carolina Archives and History in Columbia. After marrying her dear Eddie in 1971, they moved to Charleston where she worked at the Charleston Chamber of Commerce in the Tourism Department. In 1973, they moved to Augusta and she was a homemaker and a full-time mother to her boys. She was a former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a present member of Trinity On The Hill United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Guild and served on the board of the Children's Hospital Association Dental Board. Gail enjoyed being with her family, friends, the beach, her swimming pool, reading, and traveling. She played in the same bridge club for over 30 years. Also, Gail enjoyed playing tennis and played on the Augusta Country Club Tennis Team and the West Lake Country Club Tennis Team for over 20 years. She was also a very talented artist and painted many pictures of her children. Her last great pleasure in life was having her two oldest grandchildren (Ellie and Lee) painted by a childhood friend over the past six months. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by son, Edgar Leslie Perry, III (Les) and daughter-in-law Donna (Dee Dee); son, William Heath Perry (Heath), and daughter- in-law Erica; and four grandchildren, Ellen Gail Perry (Ellie), Edgar Leslie Perry IV (Lee), William Heath Perry, Jr. (Will), Davis Rushton Perry (Davis); and mother-in-law, Mrs. Edith L Perry of Columbia, S.C. She was affectionately known as Gigi by her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. John K. Hudson, Dr. Brad Jones, Dr. George Pursley, Dr. Jed Howington, Trinity Hospice and their wonderful caring staff for all the medical care Gail received. The family also wishes to give special thanks to Vertis Woods and Eva Lively for their loving care. Pallbearers will be John Simowitz, Jimmy Rigsby, Larry Smith, Herman Brittingham, Sonny Casey, Dessey Kuhlke, Gordon Huff, and Bill Rooks. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity On The Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Brown and Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, and if so desired, memorial contributions may be made in Gail's loving memory to the Gail Heath Perry Endowment, University Health Care Foundation, 2100 Central Ave., Suite D1, Augusta, Ga. 30904.
