SANDERSVILLE, Ga. - Mrs. Jewel Brooks Alexander, age 88, of 307 East McCarty Street in Sandersville, died Sunday morning, August 12, in the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 15 in the Sandersville United Methodist Church with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Mrs. Alexander was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Charles Walter Brooks and the late Ella Nora Blount Brooks. She was the wife of the late Plesley L. Alexander. Mrs. Alexander was a receptionist for West Prescription Shop and West Drug Company for many years. She was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church. Survivors are her sister, Louise Brooks Bragg of Jasper, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville is in charge of arrangements.
